„Kraków – Nowa Huta Przyszłości” (Krakow – Nowa Huta of the Future) is a strategic project which aims to create a new development impulse for Kraków, capital of the Małopolska Region, by a transformation of brownfields into an area for business, science, culture and recreation.
„Kraków – Nowa Huta Przyszłości” (Krakow – Nowa Huta of the Future) project area is located in the eastern part of Kraków, in the Nowa Huta District (ca. 13 km from the city centre).
Its location is favourable for setting up new investments: allows fast transport thanks to A4 highway which is 9 km away from the district’s centre, the newly created bypass of the city (S7 road), railway infrastructure and proximity of the „Krakow Airport” (ca. 35 minutes by car). The area of the project is more than 730 ha.
The project comprises four investment initiatives:
- „Branice” Science and Technology Park;
- Logistic Centre – Economic Activity Zone „Ruszcza”;
- „Błonia 2.0” Open Area for Large-scale Events;
- „Przylasek Rusiecki” - Rest-and-recreation area with auxiliary services.
Initiative 1. „Branice” Science and Technology Park+
Area: 127.75 ha
Location:
- the area of Branice in Nowa Huta,
- eastern part of the ArcelorMittal Poland steelworks,
- 6 km from the centre of Nowa Huta,
- 13 km from the centre of Kraków.
Type of investors: the construction and infrastructure sector, medium and large-sized businesses from for example logistic sector, creative and entertainment sector, smart businesses, science and new technology sectors.
Within the Initiative there is developed a component of the Economic Activity Zone (EAZ) covering an area of almost 40 ha which is the part of the Science and Technology Park „Branice”. This area is divided into sub-areas. The largest of them – Igołomska North has an area of over 17 ha. The Igołomska South is almost 16 ha.
The Economic Activity Zone is created mainly for micro, small and medium enterprises. It is a space available for companies from various industries with particular emphasis on Smart Specializations of the Małopolska Region (chemistry, IT technologies, biotechnology, sustainable energy, metal production, electronics, creative and leisure industries).
Initiative 2. Logistics Centre – Economic Activity Zone „Ruszcza”+
Area: 228.56 ha
Location:
- the area of Branice in Nowa Huta,
- eastern part of the ArcelorMittal Poland steelworks,
- encompasses the former railway area and „Ruszcza” slag heap,
- 6 km from the centre of Nowa Huta,
- 13 km from the centre of Kraków
Type of investors: construction and infrastructure sector, medium and large-sized businesses from for example logistic sector, entertainment sector, smart businesses, science and new technology sectors.
Initiative 3. The „Błonia 2.0” Open Area for Large-scale Events+
Area: 36.87 ha
Location:
- the district of Nowa Huta,
- in the Vistula valley, in the meadow terrace,
- 9 km from the centre of Nowa Huta,
- 15 km from the centre of Kraków.
Type of investors: the construction and infrastructure sector.
Initiative 4. „Przylasek Rusiecki” – rest-and-recreation area with auxiliary services+
Area: 191.65 ha
Location:
- Nowa Huta,
- the old Vistula river bed,
- encompasses a complex of several former excavations, which are currently water reservoirs,
- 8.5 km from the centre of Nowa Huta,
- 15 km from the centre of Kraków.
